Carbon Ferrari

Ferrari hybrid
No I'm not referring to the all the carbon-based fuel that the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti guzzles, and no this is not about the carbon-based exhaust that it spews out as the gorgeous car revs and roars across highways. Ferrari has entered the business, and necessity, of saving the planet, by producing a hybrid sports car!

Christened the FXX Mille-Chili, which in Italian refers to its 1000-kg weight (mille=1000), this Ferrari will be built entirely from carbon-fibre and will be powered by a petrol-electric engine. Initially the Mille Chili was seen to be only a concept car, and Ferrari had no intention of taking it into production.

But in an interview with Auto Motor and Sport Ferrari's Director General Amedeo Felisa:

How important is the issue of hybrid to you?
Felisa: A hybrid solution will come. We see the hybrid but also dynamic aspects. Besides which: From now on, every new model is more economical than its predecessor.

Can diesel be an alternative to the hybrid engine?
Felisa: diesel models achieve extraordinary performance. But their power-to-weight is bad. We will achieve our consumption targets without diesel.

So we will see a Hybrid Ferrari by 2009!
