Women's top ten

Honda Fit
1. The Honda Fit, priced at $13,950, with its high fuel economy, and expandable trunk space, has been bought by 80.46 percent women drivers. Since women buy more cars, it is natural to see what other kind of cars they like and why. The rest of the top ten from Forbes Auto (By Bengt Halvorson):

Kia Spectra
2. Kia Spectra has safety and convenience features that specifically appeal to women, like side-impact and head-protecting airbags, keyless entry, and good crash-test results. A warranty that provides powertrain coverage for up to 10 years makes the Kia Spectra a good bargain at $13,520.

Hyundai Elanttra
3. The Hyundai Elantra isn't huge, but its interior is spacious and surprisingly comfortable for a car in this price range ($13,625). It's soft curves appeal more to women who make 64.8% of it's buyers.

Toyota Yaris
4. Toyota Yaris. Starting at just over $11,000 and with fuel efficiency of 35 miles per gallon on the highway, the Yaris is one of the best bargains available. It ranked first on the list of top ten cheapest cars.

Nissan Versa
5. At a mere $12,710 the Nissan Versa was fourth in the list of the top ten cheapest cars to own. It also has a good fuel economy of 26mpg in the city and 31mpg on the highway.

BMW Z4
6. The $36,400 BMW Z4 is a luxury vehicle. It's soft curves and shapes appeal to female drivers despite its price and high running cost. The two-seat coupe is not a family car.

Honda Pilot
7. The Honda Pilot is one of the largest and priciest ($27,595)vehicles on this list. Its boxy shape makes for a voluminous interior with three rows of seats. The Honda Pilot was a "Top Safety Pick" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. A new model will come out in 2009.

8. Mazda CX-7, billed as a crossover utility vehicle with the soul of a sports car, costs $24,400. This model has been bought by 60.19 percent female drivers.

Hyundai Tiburon
9. The $17,025 Hyundai Tiburon has one of the best warranties in the business, reaching up to 10 years or 100,000 miles for powertrain components.

Chrysler Pacifica
10. Chrysler Pacifica, which received top ranking in crash tests, costs $25,365. Although it combines the practicality of a minivan with the styling of a sportscar, the Chrysler Pacifica will be discontinued after 2008 due to falling sales.
