The British International Motor Show will feature 600 cars from more than 60 manufacturers at the ExCel centre on the banks of the Thames in London's docklands. Cube car for a cute Korean

Nissan Cube

The Nissan Cube, looks like a small car, but is a spacious little truck. Its light weight and the 1.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine give this cube car rocking fuel efficiency of nearly 40mpg!

It was for a long time the favorite car of the cute Korean pop star Lee Hyori.

Hyolee Nissan Cube
After driving around in her Nissan Cube for more than two years, Lee Hyori recently sold it off to her friend and bought herself a Nissan Figaro. Though the Nissan Cube is a Japanese car, and was initially not available for sale in South Korea, Hyori had it imported through "unofficial routes".

The compact box-like car certainly has some attraction for girls, although it is not a complete girls car like the Nissan Pino. The Cube has some other features that make it attractive for the larger population, especially in this era of small urban cars and high fuel prices.

The 2008 model has a base price of $13,821. Unlike the Japanese model, the American car will have a 1.8 liter-engine, which will give it more power and pick-up. The Japanese model's 1.4 liter-engine powers up to 90hp and takes 14 seconds to go from 0-60 mph! The American version will be on sale in the US later this year.

What will not change much with the more powerful engine is the light weight; at over 1.25 tons, the compact car gives 40mpg on the highway and 26mpg in the city. Small cars are also easier to drive and can fit into the narrowest parking spots. Perfect for city driving. The Nissan Cube, despite its cute looks and compact size, actually has as more boot space than a Mercedes-Benz S-class! And the spacious interiors and head room make it ideal for the average American family.

The box-like car has electric rear-drive assist, which is an electric motor that can power the rear wheels if you get stuck in the mud or snow. This box car, which is popular with women around the world, will be displayed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

Nissan is also bringing the electric version of the Cube to the States. The Nissan Denki Cube will be on sale in the US sometime in 2010 (On Location):
