Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid 2010

The Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid is expected to emit 20 percent less C02 than comparable vehicles when it comes out in 2010. In this hybrid design the electric motor is between the combustion engine and the transmission, and unlike in other hybrid vehicles it is engaged on the highway instead of in the city.

The hybrid SUV has an 8-speed automatic transmission. It can reach top speed in 6th gear, and uses the 7th and 8th ratios to lower engine revs for better fuel economy. At over 140km/h the eight gear is engaged, in which the car coasts along with the electric motor for 2 km. After that the combustion engine is re-engaged by applying pressure on the accelerator pedal.

Maybe Hayden Panettiere can replace her Porsche Cayenne S with this hybrid, and keep her promise of driving a hybrid vehicle!
