Texting while driving

Texting while driving has become a major safety concern and topic of discussion in the White House this week. Next month, the Obama Adminstration will host a Safety Summit to figure out how to solve the problem. A bill, called the ALERT Drivers Act (for Avoiding Life-Endangering and Reckless Texting by Drivers Act), was introduced last week by four U.S. senators and would require states to bar drivers of cars or trucks from sending text or e-mail messages or risk losing 25% of their federal highway funds each year that they fail to comply.

Sixteen US states have already banned texting while driving after fatal crashes. If you have to be texting while in a car, be sensible enough to sit in the passenger seat like the lovely Kate Mara:
