Niki Taylor teen driver safety

'90s supermodel Niki Taylor, who also hosted Make Me A Supermodel, is helping bring attention to National Teen Driver Safety Week, which takes place from October 18th to the 24th. Car accidents are the leading cause of death for people 16 to 20 years old, and in 2008, 4,400 teenagers died in car accidents. Niki Taylor herself was critically injured in a 2001 crash when a driver lost control of his car while reaching for his cellphone.

"As the mother of two teenage sons, and a car crash survivor, I know first hand the gravity of this issue," said Niki Taylor, seen above with her twin sons. "I'm proud to be working with State Farm on this initiative and to help inform other parents about the simple steps we can take to keep our kids safe on the road." During the safety week parents of teens who are driving are encouraged to communicate with their children and lay down some simple ground rules to prevent teen driving deaths.
